Requirements for Livestock and Poultry Originating from Minnesota
Livestock or poultry known by the exhibitor to have an infection, communicable disease or to have been exposed to an infectious, communicable disease or to be from a quarantined herd or flock may not be entered in the exhibition.
General health examination of all livestock and poultry will be made by the Official Veterinarian on the day of entry.
Brucellosis and pseudorabies test must be conducted prior to the exhibition and a record of the test results on a test chart or intrastate Health Certificate must accompany the test animals.
Poultry test results or origin to be on official forms.
WARTS OR RINGWORM: All livestock will be inspected by the Official Veterinarian on the opening day of the exhibition and daily during the exhibition. The Official Veterinarian will order the immediate removal to a quarantine facility or removal from the exhibition premises of any livestock with symptoms of infectious or communicable diseases.
THIS INCLUDES LIVESTOCK WITH WARTS OR RINGWORM.
CATTLE: Brucellosis - Negative brucellosis test within 90 days of entry on females and males over six months of age except:
- Cattle originating from a Certified Brucellosis - Free Herd. (Certified herd number and date of last test to be available).
- Official dairy vaccinates under 20 months of age.
- Official beef vaccinates under 24 months of age.
- Steers and spayed heifers.
SWINE: Brucellosis - Negative Brucellosis test within 90 days of entry conducted at a State or Federal Brucellosis Laboratory on females or males six months of age and over except swine from Validated Brucellosis-Free Herds. (Validated herd number of last test to be available).
Pseudorabies - Negative pseudorabies test on all swine exhibited made within 30 days prior to the opening date of the exhibition except:
- Swine directly from a qualified pseudorabies negative herd or
- Swine directly from a pseudorabies controlled vaccinated herd or
- Slaughter classes which are kept isolated in a separate building from all other livestock and poultry at the exhibition and all swine in the class are slaughtered during or immediately following the exhibition.
GOATS: Brucellosis - Negative brucellosis test within 90 days of entry on all goats over six months of age except: goats originating from a certified Brucellosis-Free Herd. (Certified herd number and date of last test to be available).
Tuberculosis - No test required.
SHEEP: examined on day of entry by the Official Veterinarian.
HORSES: Examined on day of entry by the Official Veterinarian.
DOGS: If over six months of age must be accompanied by a certificate of rabies vaccination issued by a licensed veterinarian.
- Modified live virus vaccines accepted for 35 months.
- Trimmune, Biorab-3, Rabuard - TC, Trirab and Deta-Rab, Imrab and Rabvac-3, accepted for 36 months.
POULTRY: (except waterfowl and pigeons): Accompanied by an official forms identifying the fowl by using a leg or wing hand and with a record of a negative test for typhoid conducted within 90 days to entry to the exhibition or a record of origin from parent stock tested negative within 12 months prior to entry to the exhibition.
REQUIREMENTS FOR LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY ORIGINATING FROM STATES OTHER THAN MINNESOTA.
Cattle, Swine, Sheep, Goats, and Poultry: Originating from states other than Minnesota must meet the Minnesota Importation requirements in addition to the requirements outlined in this summary. Health certificate must list the Minnesota Exhibition as consignee, and will be accepted if examination and test are conducted within 90 days prior to the exhibition except swine pseudorabies tests must be made within 90 days prior to the exhibition.
HORSES AND DOGS: Requirements are the same as for those originating from Minnesota.
