GENERAL REQUIREMENTS • All animals must be examined by the official veterinarian on the day they are admitted to the exhibition and at least once daily during the exhibition. • Prior to entering a public exhibition, animals must meet the requirements for exhibition, importation, and intrastate movement as defined by the Board. • All out-of-state animals must meet Minnesota importation requirements. • No animal may enter or be at a public exhibition that is showing clinical signs of any infectious, contagious, or communicable disease, including ringworm and warts. Always check with exhibition management for additional requirements. DOGS - Dogs four months of age or older must be accompanied by a certificate of rabies vaccination documenting that the dog is currently vaccinated for rabies. CATTLE - Cattle must be officially identified prior to exhibition. The following are approved official identification for cattle. Official ID may not be removed from an animal once it is applied. 1. National Uniform Ear Tagging System (NUES) • Begins with the official state number “41” for Minnesota 2. Animal Identification Number (AIN) System • Consists of 15 digits, beginning with “840”, the US country code • Includes Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) version • 15-digit RFID tags beginning with the letters USA or manufacturer-coded tags beginning with any number between 900-998 1. American Identification Number System • Combines “USA” with 8 or 9 digits • Includes the National Farm Animal Identification and Records (FAIR) Administered by Holstein Association USA, Inc. 2. Breed Registry Tattoos and Tags • Acceptable if accompanied by documentation listing the breed registration number (pending registrations are not acceptable) SWINE - Breeding and feeding swine (except for those in slaughter-only classes) must be officially identified prior to exhibition. SHEEP and GOATS - All sheep and goats at public exhibitions must be officially identified. No sheep or goat that is within 30 days of giving birth, either before or after birthing, may be exhibited, except with prior approval from the Board. 1. Official Scrapie Identification. Scrapie Flock Certification Program ID • Plastic ear tags offered in various colors and styles • Unique number starting with “MN” • Tattoos with enrolled flock/herd number & unique animal numbers 3. Breed Registry and Premises ID Tattoos • Valid only with a copy of the registration paper or listing the registration number and tattoos on a CVI • Producers may use their flock/herd Scrapie premises number as a tattoo. A unique animal number must appear in the other ear POULTRY EXHIBITION RE - QUIRE MENTS - All chickens, turkeys, and game bird at exhibitions, except baby poultry, must be individually identified with a leg or wing band (http://bahwp/media/poultryleg-band.jpg). Young poultry that are too small to band can be exhibited as a group if the Hatchery Permit number or NPIP number is written on the box. At exhibitions, all chickens, turkeys, game birds, and hatching eggs from these birds must be accompanied by a certificate or test chart approved by the Board to show compliance with the following requirements: 1. Pullorum-typhoid – origination from a hatchery or breeding flock that is classified pullorumtyphoid clean under the plan; or be negative to pullorum-typhoid test within 90 days prior to the opening date of exhibition. 2. Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae – all turkeys and turkey hatching eggs must originate from a hatchery or breeding flock that is classified Mycoplasma gallisepticum clean and Mycoplasma synoviae clean under the plan; or be negative to a Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae test within 90 days prior to the opening date of exhibition.
